This is a really versatile single-origin from the Senna Katta Mountain in Ethiopia, and one we’ve been enjoying a lot on the cupping table. We roasted it to showcase chocolate-forward flavors while allowing the fruit to sit a bit further in the background. It’s delicious as a pour-over and even more impressive as an espresso. Expect a beautifully sweet aroma in the cup, with notes of fruit and cocoa.
Limu naturals tend to be quite different from coffees grown in Yirgacheffe or Guji. They bring a thicker body and a bittersweet structure, which is what makes this coffee especially compelling as espresso.
This coffee comes from a single farm located within the Boter Forest Preserve in Limu Kossa, Jimma. Senna Katta Mountain is the only farm in this remote forest area and is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team. The farm spans roughly 130 hectares, with about 110 hectares under production. It is considered semi-forest coffee and grows beneath a preserved forest canopy.
